September 25, 2018 (Leesburg, Va.) – B3 Group, Inc., a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) health IT firm for the federal government, has received the Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Governor’s Award in the small category for the most veteran hires in 2017. This is the second year in a row that B3 Group has received a V3 award.
B3 Group’s efforts to support veterans in a professional capacity have been multi-faceted. The company currently employs 55 veterans and has established mentor-protégé partnerships with two local companies that also hold SDVOSB certifications.
“Our fast-growing company relies on the high-level skills that veterans bring to the table,” said Dwight Hunt, B3 Group president and CEO. “We have established a culture that values men and women who have served our nation. Not only does this create an atmosphere of support for team members, but it positively impacts our relationships with customers, many of whom are also veterans.”
As a retired U.S. Army officer, Hunt understands the crucial need for outreach to those who have served. He is directly engaged in veteran entrepreneurship efforts at both the national and local level, actively supporting the Veteran Success Resource Group (VSRG) by giving presentations on business ownership basics and federal contracting. He also serves on the DC Chapter Board of Directors for the National Veterans Small Business Coalition (NVSBC) where he focuses on curriculum and training to help veteran businesses become procurement-ready.
Brad Palmer, B3 Group COO and founder, is a member of the leadership team for the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) – National Chapter, providing his professional experience and skillset to support the mission of helping veterans of the armed forces who have experienced spinal cord injury or dysfunction.
The award for most veterans hired was presented by Virginia Governor Ralph Northam at the 5th Annual V3 Awards during the Virginia Workforce Conference held at the Richmond Convention Center. Awards in various categories recognize V3-Certified companies and strategic partners for their ongoing commitment to creating and increasing employment opportunities for veterans in Virginia.
