June 19, 2020 (Herndon, VA) – B3 Group was awarded a $1.5M task order to provide system analysis and database support for the successful modification of the VetPro credentialing software used by VA to certify its health care professionals. B3 will ensure that the requirements, software design, and supporting documentation meets the needs of the VA and provide database analysis to ensure the VetPro database will effectively support future growth and needs. VetPro is a large production database and acts as the system of record for credentialing information for VA health care providers across 130 medical centers. This contract will also include the successful electronic sharing of credentialing and privileging data with the Department of Defense (DoD).
“Through our collective work on other VA projects, we understand the VetPro requirements and can apply the latest Agile/SDLC and SQL practices,” said Christopher Burke, Project Manager. “These approaches have successfully been implemented by B3 across many VA efforts, ranging from supporting a singular scrum team to management of 70+ scrum teams to developing and sustaining over 200 applications.”
As a best practice, VA must continuously evaluate the professional performance of health care providers through Focused Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE) in accordance with VA and accreditation requirements. The VA will use VetPro as the basis for a centralized electronic system which will include credentialing, privileging, and FPPE/OPPE functionality. Additionally, VA and DoD share health care providers between the agencies; therefore, a centralized electronic process for sharing the credentialing and privileging information of joint (shared) health care providers will also be developed.
